The 2012 Doomsday prediction is an end of the world forecast that transcends many cultures. The Mayan calendar, one of the oldest Chinese texts, Nostradamus, different prophets, and a modern day computer program all come to around the same time for some sort of major event. Many books have been written, documentaries have aired, and news stories have covered the different theories (see 2012News). 2012 the movie further brings the 2012 prediction to the forefront.
Here are explanations the famous doomsday predictions made by different cultures throughout history:
Mayan Calendar December 21, 2012 Prediction
To the Mayans, the Maya calendar was a center of their cultural life. The Mayans were great astronomers and were able to keep precise time of the solar and lunar years, eclipses and the cycles of visible planets. The system of calendars they use is slightly more accurate than that of the Gregorian calendar (today's internationally accepted calendar), which is exemplified by the periodic Leap Year which corrects this inaccuracy. his accuracy, and their knowledge of astronomy, accurately predicts events in the very distant future. The last day in the Mayan's system of calendars is the winter solstice on December 21, 2012, in which the earth will be aligned with the sun and the center of the Milky Way for the first time in more than 26,000 years.
Nostradamus 2012 Prediction
Though the Nostradamus's predictions end in the year 3797, a book of symbols by Nostradamus found in 1994 has been interpreted to have meaning indicative of an end of the world scenario.
I Ching 2012 Predictive Pattern
The I Ching, known as The Book of Change to many, is an ancient text (most likely created near 2900 B.C.E) that was used mainly to predict the future.
"The book is a collection of 64 short essays assigned to 64 figures formed each of 6 continuous and/or broken lines (____ or __ __).These figures are called hexagrams.
Each hexagram corresponds to a specific life situation, therefore when consulting I-ching as oracle it leads one to his/her specific life situation and its development in time."
The relation to the December 2012 hype has to do with a linear graph that Terrance Mckenna created. This graph, which looks similar to a stock market graph and begins around the time of the books creation, uses the patterns from the I-Ching and shows peaks of the graph corresponding to world changing events; but then the graph mysteriously ends at the year 2012.
The Web Bot Project Prediction
Originally designed to predict futures in the stock market, it was discovered during the process of running the program that the program was able to make general world wide predictions. The Web Bot project is a program that sends out spiders or robots, much like a search engine does, to scan for words and phrases, including the surrounding words and phrases, in documents on the web. The ideas is that this can predict trends in behaviors, moods, and upcoming events.
One of the more famous Web Bot predictions was in June 2001, when it predicted the terrorist attacks of September 11, as it said a life altering event would occur in 60-90 days. Other predictions include the Indonesian Tsunami and the 2009 economic collapse. In reality, however, about half of the predictions prove inaccurate. For 2012, It has predicted a worldwide calamity.
Scientific Possibility
There is no debate amongst scientist that the Earth will be passing the galactic plain in 2012 and that a solar flare cycle will peak around the years 2011 and 2012, but there is debate whether there will be any effect. No one really knows if the solar flares will affect satellites and more, or what affect the galactic alignment will have.

Will the doomsday really come?I think, according to the religious point of
view,yes ofcourse one day the world will come to end but it has to pass
through many stages. even the slightest signs have been not observed-men
will be live only for 10yrs,his height will be only arm length,and so

threatened so many people all around the globe. if it really comes the
science and technoly is main cause-Lord Buddha has propheciesed before he
died that one day the time will come where due to hard work of people they
can go to space,deep downto ocean, can create bombs etc but the attempts
should not be made to so if done then the worlgd would end before the time
for earth to vanish comes -all tyhe attempts are made by discoverie and

I'm almost scared to find out . I also find it sickening though , that
people constantly bring it up . It seems as though it would happen in the
start of the 2000's but did it ? No. I think some things should be left
alone until REAL proof comes into play.

tomorrow... Then why to worry abt all this???? How many of you can
Gaurentee me that you will definately live till doomsday and not die before
that out of earthquake, Tsunami, raod acceident and blah blah blah... Stop worry abt all this and live life happily :) Just remember to

It's very possible. Look at the "sudden" changes going around:
the man who was lately voted for a Nobel peace prize is part of the sign.
In the bible, try to find out were Jesus says: "When everybody
thought that there is "peace". then go out and run. Do not
return for your clothes, or to your house but ran as far." Another is that you cannot buy nor sell without the "mark of the
beast". Cashless society has successfully penetrated the retail
trading business for years now. All it's waiting is for the "go"
signal of the assistant of the beast. Voting somebody to seat and run
the highest position on land is another thing. Look and figure out how
this person is now involved in the "end of days". If you
can predict the weather for tomorrow by looking at the skies tonight, can't
you tell the signs of the times. Learn from the fig tree, my friends. You
can see that Armageddon is certainly nearer than what other people are
laughing about before. I, for one, certainly believe that 2012 is 3.5
years from when the "change" president sat in office. (3.5 years
is the Bible's timeline for the beast to harness his power and convince
people that he is the "god". Don't be scared, just repent
and trust in God.

Just talking about the end of the world is scarey.But if your heart is
right with Jesus then you can atleast know theres a better place for those
who believe.Were seeing some things according to the Bible that have
already happened or are happening now,theres still more to come tho.I feel
like Obama is just the beginning to some very hard times to come,,I think
he's the devil in disguise and he's doing the devils work from the

If you look at the events of the past every so often in the time cycle
things begin to change. Like the jurasic, turasic, cratacious, and the ice
age. things just suddenly changed. If you think about it, about the same
amout of time that passed in each period has passed since the time of
humans. What if the world isnt really going to end but is going to go
through another one of those changes. Has anyone else thought about that?
