Psychic power can be developed through strategies of intention and attention.

The sixth sense is like a muscle that can be strengthened with exercise. PSI development should be pursued with care and respect. Traumatic PSI opening is triggered by the biochemistry of fear and can produce problems that may be debilitating.

The body’s psychic apparatus is a vehicle that needs to be strengthened so that psychic power can infuse it with grace.

1. Focus Intent and Pay Attention

Focusing conscious intention activates the process of developing PSI skills. Once a decision is made, events will happen to make the intention a possibility. Our thoughts function like waves that attract similar vibrations. The best way to prepare for more psychic experiences is to attune the mind to such events. Expectation and attention create parameters for success.

2. Keep a Journal

It is wise to keep a journal of hunches and gut feelings by recording their results. Even the act of tabulating hits or misses enhances PSI. Keep track of the times when the sixth sense seems most fluid. Be aware of patterns that reveal when one is most sensitive to PSI function and when one is less so. A journal is an important exercise in developing intention and the discipline it needs.

3. Find Good Teachers

A system of teachings and principles provides the grounding necessary for psychic growth and balance. A good teacher can also provide informed feedback, prevent psychic overload and help keep one’s ego in check. Because the ego can throw a monkey’s wrench into the effectiveness of psychic power, learning how to surrender to a larger source than ego takes time. A teacher can give the counter-balance necessary for this lesson to be learned.

4. Seek Solitude

Because modern culture is consumed by energy and activity, it is often hard for modern man to find peace in solitude. However, time spent in reflective solitude or meditation is essential for developing the sixth sense. Solitude allows one to hear the inner voice. It also allows time for recovery from the day’s over-stimulation and stress. Psychic power surfaces in stillness and silence. Its voice cannot be heard from the din of the conscious mind.

5. Spend Time in Nature

Nature provides the grounding necessary for inspiration and reception. Being close to greenery, fresh water, trees and earth is part and parcel of PSI functioning. Many experienced psychics have insisted that natural settings are a requirement for maintaining the balance and emotional nourishment one needs for psychic attunement. There is a natural balance in nature that restores the balance in human mind and energetic systems.

6. Be Present and Aware

Being fully aware to whatever one is doing in the moment develops the “heightened quality of presence and concentration” needed for opening the third eye. Whether one is drinking tea or gardening, total attention to action intensifies the mystery and beauty of the moment. Subjective time expands when brain wave frequencies slow down during periods of meditative attention. Being present wherever one is magnifies the depth of one’s response. It is by sinking into the depth of one’s being that a connection with the source of wisdom is made.

A power inherent within each individual, psychic power can be developed through conscious intention and attention to the moment and the world within.
