Nostradamus 2012 Doomsday PredictionNostradamus' Prophecies About the End of the World
Nostradamus has become one of the most well-known and most widely read prophets, but does he predict doomsday for 2012?
The idea of Nostradamus predicting doomsday in 2012 began when an Italian journalist, Enza Massa, discovered an ancient manuscript at the Italian National Library in Rome in 1994. This manuscript, dated 1629, was titled "Nostradamus Vatinicia Code (commonly known as The Lost Book of Nostradamus)," with the author's name being Michel de Notredame. Though Nostradamus never published it, he did hand it down to his son. Later, it was donated to Pope Urban VIII. In 1994, it surfaced again, and since its rediscovery, the prophecies have been repeatedly interpreted and analyzed. The Predictions of the Lost Book of NostradamusThe Nostradamus predictions joined the club of other famous doomsday predictions, with the discovery of his last book. The book is a collection of eighty watercolor images put together as an illustrated handwritten manuscript. In this book, strange and cryptic paintings and images are portrayed, along with accompanying quatrains. For believers, these paintings, images, and quatrains are supposed to have predicted the Nazi Blitzkrieg, the attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II, the oil wells of Kuwait being set on fire during the first Iraq War, Boris Yeltsin's rise to power, and the attack of the twin towers. Future Doomsday Predictions From the Lost Book of NostradamusThe book seems to cover about a four-hundred year spam of time from the 1700s to the twenty-first century. This would mean that many predictions should soon be realized and this is resulting in greater interest in the prophesies. The increase in curiosity of Nostradamus’ 2012 prophecies can be seen by television shows connecting the dots, new books, and movies. The 2012 doomsday predictions related to the book come from images of disaster in correspondence to signs that are believed to point to 2012. Many believers point to interpretations of starvation and of water running out, amongst other predictions in the book and then images that seem show an arrow pointing to the galactic center. This is interpreted as disaster occurring when the arrow of Saggitarius is pointing at the center of the galaxy, which will occur in 2012. What Critics Say About Nostradamus' Doomsday Predictions Critics point to a number of reasons that Nostradamus is not predicting doomsday. These insight include:
One thing is for sure. The critics and believers will keep the controversy over Nostradamus' predictions alive for some time. Sources:
