Re: http://alternativespirituality.suite101....

Is it really impossible to take a yoga class without a bit of traditionally Hindu spirituality rubbing off?

What do you think? Is there room for, and, is there a need for spirituality within the confines of a text-based religion such as this conservative branch of Christianity?

My daughter-in-law, who suffers from anxiety and panic attacks, does yoga for relaxation. Her Christian counselor highly recommended it. I think theologian Donald Whitney is a tad paranoid - seeing the devil behind every bush. Maybe he ought to take up yoga himself and relax.

Yes- there's actually quite a new trend of "Christian yoga alternatives" available. One program, called "Praisemoves" actually renames traditional yoga poses, so that for example, warrior pose becomes angel pose, and mountain pose becomes Mt. Zion pose. Interesting concept.

Is it possible to celebrate Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, without Pagan celebrations rubbing off?

God bless, J

Clearly, no religion has ever existed in a cultural vacuum, despite what we may like to think. Thanks for reminding us of that!
