» Feature Writer Victoria Anisman-Reiner - "Alternative" religion/spirituality?

Thank you for addressing this issue!

I agree with much of what you said. I believe that the distinction between mainstream "religion" and alternative "spirituality" is as simple as our frame of reference - something which changes from place to place, from culture to culture, from person to person, and even from moment to moment.

In fact, I think the most arbitrary definition of these terms - and the only line between "religion," "spirituality," and a "cult" - may be the law. What does the law of your province, state, or country say? The law can be outdated, but it's also very telling.

These are terms that are so difficult to define or agree upon. I applaud you for addressing this difficult issue.

Best wishes,
