What is a family? Is it a group of people in some office environment with whom a person works? Is it a group of people who meet with each other in some church environment? Or is it a group of people one of whom carries out the role of the one who bore you for 9 months while you were developing in her womb? Can we put the "family" in some sort of context where marriage plays an integral part? Can we see that it is the "family" that is the institution and not marriage? How long does it take for us to realize that marriage is onlly one of the relative aspects of the family along with others like children, brothers, sisters, and all the other combinations possible like husband and wife and mother and father? . Which begs the question of why the family is in such dysfunction today along with the other institutions of our society. . -- posted by pink101
