In response to Haggard Hipocracy? posted by RichardSpeaks:
My opinion: if the culture wasn't so homophobic, incidences like the one involving Haggard and the rest wouldn't happen so often because more people would be out and proud. When you don't have to hide, you're less apt to pretend you're something you're not, like straight.
That's a beautiful description of respect for others' choices! Its just too bad more people can't see it!
God bless, J

I can't help but crack wise...
.
Haggard - known for his anti-drug stand, admitted that he bought meth from Jones. He said he 'threw it away'. Yeah right. Clinton didn't inhale either.
.
Haggard admits to receiving a 'massage' from Jones. Uh huh. Clinton never had 'sex' with Monica either.

However, that would be no fun at all. So. . .
I always find it fun to laugh at the Mighty when they fall. Not because I am better than them, but because they speak out of both sides of their mouth. They love to stand up and call others sinners when their own pants (or skirts) are stained. Literally. And then, they cry (like Swaggert) and seek to get their "forgiving" congregations to take them back. And good Christians see no other alternative. If they don't forgive, they become as bad as the sinner. It's a vicious circle. A funny one. After all, love those who sin against you, do good to those who despise and deceitfully use you. Lay down like a dog to those who take your money, your possessions, your good name and drag it through the mud.
When you do that, you deserve what you get.

who doesn't have some kind of skeleton in the closet.

Looks like Mike Jones cleaned Haggard's closet for him. Surely Haggard knew this gospel verse: "...There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known." (Mat 10:26)

Hee hee. I can't wait to hear the Leno, Colbert, and John Stewart jokes.

That's it in a nut shell, Richard. Not outing a closet gay man. That's no biggie. Just outing another pious anti-everything hypocrite.

When you believe in an external, all powerfull god, that's all you can do. After all, he has everything under control. He has predetermined the outcome. He knew Haggard would do what he did. He knew Foley would do what he (almost) did. He knows it all. Nothing can surprise him. Omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent. Ask any good Calvinist. Haggard was destined for hell all along.
If Haggard actually had the free will to do what he did, then God couldn't have known the outcome, hence no omniscience. If God knows the outcome, has a Plan, and everything is His will, then free will is moot.
You cannot have it both ways, The Grand Paradox. . .

- Have to jump in here
We're way off topic, but I can't let this go. Foreknowledge in and of itself does NOT cancel out free will.
I will concede that a full, complete, comprehensive Calvinist view cancels out free will. For the record, I am not a Calvinist.
However, foreknowledge alone does not negate free will. If you or I know that something is going to happen, that does not automatically mean that we are DETERMINING that said event will happen.
