In response to Civil Rights posted by spiritalk:
.
I remember standing in the bedroom of my home in the late 1960s and seeing two young women crossing the street, barefoot and wearing simple dresses, holding a bouquet of flowers in one hand. They walked down the sidewalk. Someone said, "Flower girls".
.
During those days I spent quite a bit of time in Ann Arbor. I saw women take their bras off and toss them into 55 gallon drums aflame. Symbolic, of course; but, it made strong points. I was already in my mid thirties and was, just then, entering college for the first time. I had a wife and four children. I got caught up in the times. It is hard for people, today, to understand the dynamics of the sixties when our president had been gunned down in Dallas and Martin Luther King II, the major civil rights leader, had been gunned down and when our friends and acquaintances were joining in peace marches all while the Viet Nam War raged and young men were dying by the thousands.
.
It was a difficult time. And, it is even more difficult for us to put it in context of the days in which we are now living.
.
I'm certainly not interested in keeping things as they are now. I'm for change. But, how can we change if we are divided as to what it is that we want to move into. We cannot get into the future from here. WE have to create dialogue in which we begin to talk about what kind of a future we want. We have to decide on that future. That is our first order of business as far as I can tell.
.
Is that a possibility over there where you see yourself as being?
.
By the way, what the apostle Paul wrote, he called his gospel and it is universally refered to as the Pauline Gospel.
