» sacred_insights - Expressing your Spirituality?

Now not all of us go to church or find connection in the conventional ways and yet are spiritual regardless. How do you express your spirituality? What rituals are important to you and why? Do you share your spirituality with others or not? Why or why not?
Just curious and trying to get a handle on spirituality outside of the confines of the church setting of which I used to be so much a participant.

My personal opinion has grown to the place where I believe it is unwise to put a heavy amount of my time in my personal religious sensing.
.
For me, it seems proper to seek out a relationship with the self so that the self can be actively engaged in my thoughts.
.
In other words, relating with others who for one reason or another see themselves as being "spiritually mature" creates a built in problem that causes one to "give other" to the other. That's what happens in churchified groups--you get into a "group think" that over powers your own self. I think Jesus was the best teacher we've had against religionism; but, it takes great courage to speak up against the churhification that is so prevalent in these postmodern times.
.
The spiritual journey takes an inner path and necessarily excludes all others except the most intimate.

Interesting Phil... I guess I am coming out of that same kind of "group think" you identify as part of "churchifcation". I do not think Christianity is the only faith that has been damaged by the institutionalization of its beliefs. The last few days you have been reading and responding to my posts in Alternative Faiths and for that I thank you. happy We have not always agreed but I do find what you say interesting and I do go away with something to think about when I read the threads here.

So how do you seek out that relationship with the self in a way so that he self can the actively engaged in your thoughts as you express it here?

Just wondering what the actual process is or has been in your spiritual journey? Anything you care to share?

It is a searching journey and that is a big part of the discovery of the spritual.
.
That is why it is important to have another person to accompany us on that journey.
.
Great intimacy is involved. Great.
.
It is a difficult trip and that is due to all the taboos that are set up against the self.
.
I think the idea of seeking is most important. If you seek it you can find it.
.
Migisi, I thought you would see things in a similar light. And, you wrote, "exactly". happy

Breaking the barriers. Important!

We have to learn to put our trust in our humanity.

Did anyone see my reply to Brother Jones in the Protestant thead?

What you say here makes sense about having to be comfortable with oneself... and seeking. I like the idea of trusting our humanity. That is very healing. I have always thought that people have great good in them no matter how bad the world seems to get. It is a balance between positive and negative of course but people focus way more on the negative than they should.

Yep I saw that post... this is the thread you were talking about right? Your first post to me in this thread? happy

Are you familiar with the concept of dualist ideologies in regards to the idea of spirits, souls, and physical bodies?
.
Here's an interesting review of the Wodehouse book, Laughing Gas.
.
Check it out.

.
It deals with the idea of dualism.
.
I think we could open the idea up as it applies to this thread.

In response to Dualist Ideologies posted by pink101:
Dualism usually involves the existence of two fundamental principles (or concepts), often in opposition to each other.

In spiritual terms are we talking about Moral Dualism? How do you see it fitting here? I am curious where you are going here. happy
